SCO has that problem too. The older Compaq cards use the TI Thunderlan
(TLAN) chip-set. The Netelligent uses the Intel Tulip chip they acquired
along with DEC's semiconductor business. For some reason SCO keeps
trying to treat is like a Thunderlan card, with less that total success.
I haven't investigated why. I expect the same fix works with Linux that
works with SCO - tell the system its a DEC Tulip card.
