How do I get a printer online with a message resulting from lpq as:
waiting for <printer> to become ready (offline ?)?

I reloaded lpd in X and the files in lpq started printing. The server
assumed the first printer in the file /etc/printcap was the
destination printer. The problem all started from the cities power
shutting down for several hours, so my machine had to be shutdown
before the UPS battery ran out of power. When I returned after the
power came on to restore the system, the server begin its mistake.

Even though the files were directed at the right printer during
initial printing, how did the server misdirect all the files to the
wrong printer after the system was restored from a power down?

Also, how do I reload the daemon lpd at the command prompt?
