Which would go a long way, I admit.  It'd also increase the CPU load
on the Linux-server/router to levels which either disturb, or are
disturbed by other processes which happen to be running on it.

I'd still prefer creating a kernel based solution.  Personally I tend
to favour amending the load-balancing code to support duplication (but
I haven't really checked if that's within reach yet).
