Hi,
M$-Proxy server handle client ( Win32 only ) machines introducing a TCP/IP
layer
that makes an "underground" connections with the server if the IP address of
the target machine
is not in LAT ( Local Address Table ).
Since this is available only for Win32 machines You can use M$-Proxy as
SOCKS server with
the sockified versions of FTP, TELNET, etc... but You still remain uncovered
with LYNX.
I repeat to You that IMVHO the best solution is to use a cheap-old PC ( say
a 120 MHz with 16-32 Mb RAM -
1Gb HD ) in which You install linux running IP-Masquerading ( visit
http://www.indyramp.com/masq/ ).
This gives all machines in Your net ( Win32 as long as linux as long as
HP-UX etc... ) the illusion to be
directly on internet without any tricks.
You can find at http://www.indyramp.com/masq/ all the setup infos on how to
configure Your net.
Cheers,
Davide.
