I am looking for information about creating a local gatway where it actually
has multiple Internet gateways for redundancy. So far I have simply set up
a box (linux 2.2.5, but will probably run 2.2.10) with two NICs and point
each on to a different Internet gateway. What I would like is when one
fails, that it automatically switch to the other gateway. Running a little
script/daemon to check the connection seems like a lot of traffic, is there
something in the kernel possibly? I have looked on the net, but found very
little info. Policy routing seems like it might be close to what I want.
What do I need to do in order to do this?
Thanks,
Kenn Herman
