Are you using a dialup connection (ppp) between the two sites and running uucp
over TCP? If yes, then maybe there is a modem reset string embedded in one of
the files that are to be transferred. This has happened to me often, and the
hangup sequence seems to hang the modem on one or both sides of the link.
