Thanks, I will point these out to the sourceforge.org maintainer. The
site is meant to become host for a number of open source projects, but
I think I'm the first to make heavy use of it. They're using ProFTPD
and one of the things it does (supposedly a feature) is to implement
directory lookups directly, rather than running an external "ls".
