Here's the setup:
Hardware
-300 MHz PII w/ 64 Mb Ram Dual Boot W98/ RH6.0 "Network Anywhere" NIC
(tulip clone)
Software
-tulip driver v.91e (newest according to
http://www.bmen.tulane.edu/~siekas/tulip.html)
-DHCPcd v.1.3.17 (came on RH6.0 CD..)
-Pump v. 0.7.0 (newest according to RH, supports the -h option)
-DHCP provider A @home cable modem
-DHCP provider B, my friends linux box running DHCPd
Configuration knowledge
-I know that @home requires the -h hostname option on dhcpcd/pump to
successfully connect, and have included that in my ifup script (thanks to
the now-defunct link of http://www.monmouth.com/~jay/Linux/)
Desired condition:
Mymachine successfully DHCP'ing using linux to @home
Attempts/Results:
Mymachine attempt to connect using linux & pump to @home
Failure (I don't remember the error right now, sorry)
Mymachine attempt to connect using linux & dhcpcd to @home
Failure (timeout waiting for valid response)
Mymachine attempt to connect using W98 to @home
Success
Mymachine attempt to connect using W98 to friend's dhcpd
Success
Mymachine attempt to connect using linux & dhcpcd to friend's dhcpd
Success
Any ideas? Suggestions? Requests for clarification? Someone with
successful experience with linux and @home would be great!
Thank you very much for any help you can give!
