This shouldn't be too hard, assuming your kernel has support for this card.
I'm going to assume that it does, at that the support is in the kernel as a
module.
1. edit /etc/conf.modules (or /etc/modules.conf - whichever exists)
2. add the line "alias eth0 3c509" to this file and save/exit.
3. Reboot
4. Attempt to bring the card online with "ifconfig eth0 <ip-address>"
This is the "basics" that should get you running on any distro.
Unfortunately I do not know Debian, so I'll not be much help there. There is
a util in other distro's called "linuxconf" that can do all of the
configuration for you. If you have that, use it. If you don't have it, you
may want to get it.

Subject: How to install network interface ?
Hi,
I am a newbie with Linux. I installed Debian and now I need to set
up network but my network card 3Com Ether III ISA[3509/3C509b]
is not detected so there is no eth0 network interface.
What must I do?
I boot from a diskette.
Thank you for help.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
