I have a network with three CPUs. An iMac (w/ AppleTalk), Linux
2.0.36(RH 5.1), and Windows 98. If I set up a directory on the Linux
box say /home/shared I can look at that dir with the Mac using AppleTalk
and with the PC using Samba. This works great. But if I want to get a
file from the Mac to the PC I have to put in /home/shared with the Mac
and then get if from /home/shared on the Win PC.
So, what I was thinking was this. Make a dir on linux called
/home/WindowsC. Then via smbmount, mount //winpc/c/ to /home/WindowsC.
This works fine. Next step is to use AppleTalk to mount that dir
(/home/WindowsC, which really has the contents of //winpc/c) and
eliminate the middle step described above.
BUT, when I try to mount the drive on the AppletTalk (after it has been
mounted by smbmount), it doesn't work. Mac seems to be read the
directory, but it never really displays any files in it, the icon to
show it is working, just keeps spinning.
If I change the order, mount the directory to the Mac first and then run
smbmount, I am not able to mount it in linux because the device or
resource is busy.
Any Thoughts?
