There are several things that could be problematic. The first suspect would be
your DNS configuration (forward & reverse). Another thing would be the
"Timeout.ident" value in your sendmail.cf file. Mine was commented out and I
thought it would not be a problem. However it appears there is a default 30
second value for this if it is not set explicitly.
I had this:
#O Timeout.ident=30s
I changed it to this:
O Timeout.ident=0
In your case where you had made any changes, I would highly suspect your DNS
configuration.
