Are you talking about moving down the file system (i.e. /home/user to
/home/user/directory) or "up then down" (i.e. /home/user to / to
/etc/passwd)? I assume the latter, in which case it will depend on your
FTP server. For example, our ProFTPd seems to automatically prevent users
from escaping their home directory (at least, I didn't tell it to, but it
does... :).
