Hi, I have a pretty busy SMP box running redhat 6.0 and 2.2.15-smp, while reading various discussions about apache on Linux efficiency, I saw stuff that implied a kernal upgrade is vital for good performance, due to both optimizations for kernel mode execution, and more importantly, tcp problems with (if I remember) microsoft stacks that result in the possibility of large (100ms?) delays.. given the stress involved in trying to upgrade just the kernel on a busy server, is it worth it? For a site doing about 20 hits per second, and filling about 2 T1s at peak, is it worth it? The discussions were around benchmark performance of 100s to 1000 requests per second, from memory. Obviously I want to go to a newer kernel, but not under pressure. thanks -Justin - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-net" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
