Hello,

I'm having trouble with tcpdump on our new 100Mbit LAN. I have three systems
all connected to the same SOHOware NDH308 10/100 hub.

The first is a compaq P2/233 running redhat 6.1
TLAN: eth0 irq=11 io=1020, Compaq Netelligent 10/100 TX Embedded UTP, Rev. 16

The second is an hp vectra pentium/133 also running redhat 6.1
eth0: 3Com 3c905B Cyhclone 100baseTx at 0xfc80

The third is another compaq running NT4 workstation with an Intel PRO/100+
Management Adapter...

The hub indicates that all interfaces are 100Mbit.

tcpdump on the hp does not see successful pings between the compaqs. It does
see arp requests where one compaq is asking about the other.

A neighbor in the next cube with similar hardware (both our hubs go to the
same 3Com switch) running network ASSOCIATES Sniffer on an NT 4 workstation
also fails to see these pings.

Why can't we see all the 100Mbit traffic? Would a NIC from another mfr do
better? Do we need special tools?

All hints and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
