Yes:
append = "ether=5,0x300,eth0 ether=12,0x360,eth1"

Sure is. There is a program called nsupdate which will notify the servers
listed in /etc/resolv.conf of updates. Unfortunately, the dynamic update
possibilities of Bind are not very well documented. I found out about it
by accident and had to buy the latest DNS and Bind form O'Reilly to find
out how it works.
I am working on some perl scripts fro my employer that, I hope, can tie
DHCP and BIND 8 together.

Im a newbie myself and after spending many frustrating days screwing with
ppp, my recomendation is to download ezppp. This app does away with
manually configuring scripts and does all the work for you. Sorry I dont

If it is always the second-inserted card that doesn't work (i.e., each
card works fine on its own), then it is almost certainly an interrupt
conflict. The interrupt that the second card grabs is the bad one.

Not completely. I know a couple of professional Unix Sysadmins who value MCSE
certification quite highly. Care to guess about the quality of work they turn
out?
Don't bother, I wont keep you in suspense. After working with one for a year,
I've never seen him fix anything. He breaks something at least twice a week.
He's very personable and spouts buzzwords in meetings. I've never seen the other
one actually touch a unix box although I hear that she has. Since I've never
seen her break anything, she rates quite a bit higher than the first.
Both of them will ocassionally read newsgroups. Only at work of course.
If this guy would accept a company P.O., they would order this stuff REAL FAST.

Good question! I scratched my head over this when setting up my

"foo.bar".
As for host names, a friend of mine who runs a service for playing

I need to setup a fax server accros a network (WinXX, Mac, various

Does anyone have a working faxserver, or knows how to make efax works

hylafax ?
I've read the howtos (Faxserver mini howto, modem issues...) and the

sending faxes from localhost...

part of the problem might be that 2.2.1 needs the newer pppd 2.3.5
(sitting as pppd-2.3 in the /etc/ppp folder. ) the symnlink @pppd from
2.0.34 -> 36 points to pppd-2.2. That and changing /dev/cua2 tp
/dev/ttys2 in options and options.demand were the only probs i had

Subject: Linksys Etherfast 10/100 eth card & Linux 2.2
Date: Sun, 21 Feb 1999 11:17:55 GMT
Hi,
I recently purchased a Linksys Etherfast 10/100tx ethernet card for a linux
server I run. However, I upgraded to Linux 2.2 and it appears that there are
some imcompatability problems when I try to use the tulip drivers. I have
tried compiling them into the kernel and using them as modules, but no-go on
getting it on the network. I have link lights between the card and the hub
(which is an autosensing Linksys 10/100 24-port hub). I notice that after
about 10 to 15 minutes after the server is on, with the tulip drivers loaded,
and attempting to send packets, the kernel will panic and force me to reboot
the system.
My question is, how compatable are these cards with the 2.1.x and/or 2.2.x
kernels? Are there any drivers I should try? What works? And has anyone
been experiencing the same problems? It is essential I get this card
operating at 100mb/s with as little downtime as possible.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance,

Just to add a small note, on my system (Red Hat 5.1) it was /etc/sysconfig.
I too didn't know that was there. I kept seeing in the verbiage during
bootup that IP forwarding was being disabled. Right after that, all the

Maybe this will fix it.
