I am trying to set up a ppp server on my Debian Linux v2.1 box, using
a Win/9x dial-up networking client. The win/9x client is
set with all the defaults. I get a modem connection, but
can't get past the "Verifying username and password" screen on
the windows box. The connection eventually times out. My configuration
and log files are below. I do notice a "Unknown Linux-PAM error"
but do not know (being the newbie that I am) how to fix it. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Our server (RedHat 5.2) is configured to be a DHCP-server in one Ethernet
segment (192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0). We have 3 types of clients,
worked fine:
1) Win95 (DHCP),
2) RedHat 5.2 (DHCP),
3) HP JetDirect (BOOTP)
Now, we wants to install modem and to configure dial-up to ISP. Because of
documentation, to enable pppd to change default route to one, dynamically
received from PPP-server, we have manually disabled default route to
192.168.0.254 (fictive address!!). OK, PPP is working fine, but DHCP in this
case can't get DHCPACK to some clients: to Linux-boxes and JetDirects due
this diagnostics:
.......send_pkt: Network unreachable
In routing table exists 2 records: localhost and route to 192.168.0.0 on
eth0.
What is this effect? Mistake in DCHP configuration, routing configuration?
May be, other path to configure ppp-routing exists?

Im wondering if someone could give me some ideas of what could be wrong
here.. These machines are running kernel 2.2.9, They WERE both running SMC
Ultra NIC Cards. Now one is running a DEC Tulip (Neatgear) and the other SMC
Ultra Still...
Before we replaced the first machine (our mail server, with an DEC Tulip) it
showed the below errors:

Use a slave zone in /etc/named.conf:

file "zone/your.domain.name";
masters { your.primary.DNS.IPnumber ; };
};

The master DNS have to be specified by IP address. If you want, you can
configure primary DNS to notify secundary.
The file /var/named/zone/your.domain.name will be automatically created
by named with all records from your primary DNS.
