Linux in itself doesn't support video cards, Xfree86 does. Looking
at the website, http://www.xfree.org/, it appears that the most
recent release of Xfree86, 4.0.2, has added support for the S3
Savage chipset. Read there, then go to your distribution's website
and see if they've got updated packages for you to install.
Alternatively, download, compile and install X for yourself.
