I am confused between two choices. The modem included in my new 1.2G Anthlon system is the OEM US Robotics 2976 w/voice. Much to my surprise, this modem in this new computer connects at 45.333K, while my old computer with ISA US Robotics sportster connects at 53.333K. I don't understand why. I went to CompUSA and bought the retail US Robotics 56K Performance Pro. So far I can't try it because of a IRQ conflict. So which is the better choice for Linux, or is it a tossup? I do not yet have all equipment running under Win(* SE, planning on dual SuSe 7.1 and Redhat 7.0 operating systems in different logical hard drives. Any thoughts or useful links would be appreciated. My own net search was inconclusive.
