Pardon me (pleaes dont flame me either), but I feel this is the right list.
While I dont like to see someone go away from linux, whomever chooses to go
away from the best OS around, should go away with a good impression, because
we might get that person back later.
What I say here is that I'm assuming you want to completely remove Linux
from your system forever. If you want to make both co-exist, do not follow
these instructions, but let us know and we can tell you how to make both
exist on your system.
Okay...assuming you are removing Linux completely to rejoin the dark side
(<grin>):
The best thing you can do is run "fdisk /dev/hda" (assuming your hard drive
is the primary master on the first ide chain). and delete the partitions.
Know that if you do this, as soon as the partition tables are written the OS
is toast.
Disk Druid is okay, but you must delete all partitions to completely remove
Linux from your system. and immediately hit RESET on the system. Boot with
your Win98 CD and have it format and partition the drive like it was a fresh
system. If you have booting problems getting into Winblows 98, then make
sure you run "fdisk /mbr" from a Win98 boot disk to make sure the master
boot record on the first HD is back where Winblows wants it to be.
For the record, Winblows 98 does freak (sometimes) when it sees a "non-dos"
partition and will usually leave it alone. The partition must be removed.
If you already have a Win98 boot floppy, you can remove the partition with
DOS fdisk too.
REPEAT: IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO REMOVE LINUX, BUT YOU WANT TO HAVE BOTH OSes
ON THE COMPUTER, DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE.
Linux is a great OS, but can be intimidating (even frustrating) at first.
If you're still up to learning something new, go ahead and put Win98 back on
that drive, and leave some blank room for Linux. If you're low on space,
grab a spare drive you have lying around and put Linux on it and use both
OSes like most of us do. I only use Winblows only when I have no other
choice.
Good luck and feel free to ask us anything else (pertaining to Linux),
