Hi, jdr:

Here is my experience with Earthlink:

I recently got a DSL kit and account from Earthlink/Mindspring.
I received an install CD that requires Windows 95 or better. It
worked fine. I can still receive mail from my other accounts,
but outbound mail must be sent from my Mindspring SMTP.

I downloaded Roaring Penguin pppoe version 3.0. There is
a v3.1 now. In just three evenings I got it configured and working.

Earthlink seems to 'hang-up' on me at least once a day. rp-pppoe-3.0
automagically restarts, but I end up with a new IP address each time.
I was hoping that the service would be 24/7 and my IP address would
be 'essentially static'. Alas, no.
