I'm trying to get my Sound Blaster Live card to work on Linux. The card is
found at boot time and there are no errors. The problem is that though I
get output from a .au file, sound is very distorted with a lot of
high-frequency noise.
I am running Slackware 7.1 on a Dell Optiplex 800 MHZ pentium III machine. I
am using the emu10k1 module. The Sound Blaster Live card works great in
windows.
Do I have a hardware problem? The cmos settings are Dell's factory-set
settings. Are there jumpers on the card that need changing? Unfortunately
the Dell Tech support people aren't helpful as they don't support Linux.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
