When i try 
wget ftp://xxx.com
i get a listing of that server written to a file called index.html, now i dont
use any rc file at all simply a bare wget, my network is MASQuraded, i think
you need to be a little more spesisif in your explanation as to how everything
is configured allowing us to see just what is going on.
