There is no reason intrinsic to Linux why this should be so. So it probably
has something to do with the details of your setup. Since you've told us
nothing about your setup except that it uses Linux, I can't even begin to
guess about what detail might be causing this.

Things to tell us include:

         1. What version of Linux (what distro, what version, what kernel
version).
         2. What sort of Internet connection (ppp dialup, DSL, cable, LAN,
etc.), with the details appropriate to it.
         3. What you are actually observing that you characterize as "my
linux connection is slowest". (Examples: Web pages load slower; DNS
resolution takes longer; e-mail doesn't download as fast.)
         4. For whatever you are observing in (3), what application
software is involved. (E.g., Netscape for Web connections.)
         6. What are the relevant features of your hardware? (What is
"relevant" depends on the answers to (2), (3), and maybe (4).)

Your answers will most likely generate another round of questions before I
(or others) can give you any useful advice, but that's just how it is ...
to get the answer to a technical question, you need to provide some
technical details.
