Hi, Bryan:

 CD/RW devices and media are cheaper than tape. :-|
Hard drives are sometimes rather cheap also.
I've seen 40 gigabyte drives for 48usd.
 I'm guessing that a 40G tape cartridge would
be nearly 48USD. :-|
