Originally to: ALL Thanks for all the feedback and info, I am staying busy researching all the ideas presented. Gawk seems more file/pipe oriented and all I need to do is parse an argument to a Bash script (LFN arg to SFN) and use the result to control the creation of semaphores and downloading of files locally (if already present, that one is skipped).
If I were under DOS, as I am more often than not, I would just write a quick & simple Assembly program to handle things (plus a .Bat file, of course), however, Linux is my first choice for Internet jobs, so back to school. :) -- Keep the faith, : Ben http://bellsouthpwp.net/c/m/cmech617 ICQ #32457590 : + WildCat!
