man ip6tables tells me:

NAME
       ip6tables - IPv6 packet filter administration

DESCRIPTION
ip6tables is the IPv6 enabled version of the iptables
packet filter management program. "ip6tables --help" will
list the available commands and options. They're a subset
of the iptables' commands and options, which are docu
       mented in iptables(8).

SEE ALSO
       iptables(8)

IMHO, the functionalities of iptables and ip6tables are identical, ip6tables
is the IPV6-version of iptables.
