I can't help much on the CD problem, since I don't have a very good grasp on the nature of the problem you're having. But I do have a suggestion for what distro to install on a P75. And this may help with the CD problem as well. I advise you to use Vectorlinux on this machine. It is based on Slackware, and is geared specifically to older machines like the one you reference. It's done wonders for my P90. It really automates the install process. I too had problems with the CD on my P90 when I tried to install (not sure if they were the same as those you're now confronting). But the automated install routine Vectorlinux uses was able to find the CD and do the installation. Vectorlinux gives no choices for what packages to install: it just gives you a pretty complete set of apps, with the low resource desktops Icewm and XFCE. The installation size is about 350MB - just right for such older machines that often have a 1GB or smaller HD. I can't say enough good things about this distro. I will always recommend it for low resource machines.
