I second this recommendation.  Linux Journal comes out with some really
interesting articles.  Not all of the articles cover things  that I am doing
with my machine, but they give the reader a very good overview of the broad
spectrum of things people are doing with linux in the business and scientific
worlds, while still offering articles of interest to the beginning through
advanced user.

For German speakers there is also Linux Magazin. http://www.linux-magazin.de
