When I boot up my linux box (Slackware 3.4) in any of the multiuser
modes, it just crashes into a bash prompt and thats it! It won't let me
login and it won't start X. The screen looks like this for the last few
lines before the bash prompt:

Appletalk 0.17 for Linux NET3.035
Mounting remote file systems...
Starting daemons: syslogd klogd portmap inetd lpd mountd nfsd
Starting sendmail daemon (/usr/sbin/sendmail -bd -q15m)...
Loading the iBCS module...
bash#

and that is where it stops. I think it might be either inittab or one of
the rc.* scripts called by it, but I'm not sure. Could someone give me a
hand with this?
