kernel 2.0.35 is the answer, when you do a make config DO NOT FORGET to say
"YES" to nls in the filesystem support section otherwise you wont even get
any dos support let alone vfat (fat32).

O yes, you will need to upgrade the ax25-utils to 2.1.42a.

You will find many changes in 2.0.35 and the utils, if you need more
