If i remember correctly you have Redhat, so your logs are in /var/log
The logging system is controled by /etc/syslog.conf the defaults are.
/var/log/
messages
kernel
secure
maillog
spooler
/var/log/httpd
access.log
and a few more, there is a sysmbolic link in /etc/httpd which points to
/var/log/httpd
To read the files just use 'less' 'more' or 'tail -n50' read the last 50
lines.
