Problem:  My linux box shows a lot of disk activity even when there isn't
anyone logged on.  This drastically slows down the speed of the machine.
Can anyone offer any suggestions.  Thank you in advance.

Sorry about the lack of details.  The computer is a gateway 2000 with an
intel pentium II processor, 64 Mb of ram, and a 6 Gb harddrive.
