Hi all,
I have installed and used Linux in 1995 and 1996 during my MS in Computer
Science and give a break about 2 years. A week ago I decided to install and
refresh Linux knowledge and develop some programs in Linux. I have a
Pentium II 266 PC with 64MB RAM and 6GB harddisk (it is not bad) Video card
is a Trident 9750 compatible 4MB card and the Monitor is Liteon 1765. After
I installed Linux I tried to configure X86. I tried a couple of times and
all of them gave me the same fatal error.
as follows: (by the way my linux 1996 version Slackware I think kernel 2.0.0)

"XFree86 Version 3.1.2 /X Window system (protocol version 11, revision 0,
vendor release 6000)
Operating System:Linux
Configured drivers:
S3: accelerated server for S3 graphics adaptor (Patchlevel 0)
mmio_928, S3_generic
Fatal Server error:
xf86OpenConsole: Cannot open /dev/console (No such file or directory)
TRANS (Socket UNIXConnect) () can't connect:errno = 111 giving up
xinit: connection refused (errno 111): unable to connect to X Server
xmit: No such process (errno3): server error"

So is there any kind person who can help me alittle (or much)?

Regards.
