satan 1.1.1 won't compile

I have a new install of redhat 5.1. I downloaded the "fixed" version of
satan-1.1.1 from sunsite.  After untaring, I cd to satan1.1.1 and do a
perl reconfig, everything seems ok so far. when I do make linux I get a
message stdio.h not found, then exiting directory and cancels the
operation. if anyone needs more particulars let me know I'm writing this
from memory, I can redo the make linux and get more details.
