Yes, you're thinking in terms of Windows peer networking. You're using a true SMB
server now, with security and tons of features that Win95's peer networking doesn't
provide.
Remember, you'll only access what the server allows you to access. Blatant
disk(partition)-wide access is a huge potential security hole. In short, in order to
access wider areas of the disk you'll have to set up (a) specific share(s) to allow
that.
Also, check /etc/smb.conf -- it might be set up to not allow true root
capabilities. In most networking environments, one should be cautious about having
full root login powers from across the net (a cracker's dream).
