mode80 equivalent of Linux

Hi there,

Does anyone know the equivalent of the command "mode 80" in Linux? The
reason why I ask this is because when I use the Stealth II (S220) driver
under X-Windows, everytime I exit, it shows the characters as unreadable
garbages. So I need to reset the video mode.
