I have always used 3com products with networked systems (x86, pentiums, pentium
pros, pentium IIs,) and NEVER had a problem with the reliability. I have
managed a network of 600+ systems (desktops and laptops with windoze 95 & 98,nt
workstation, nt server, dos, 3.11) and UNIX and WinDoZe NT Servers (about 37 in
number) based on this company. The warrenty is LIFETIME and has been handy on
the 30 or so cards that were ever needed to be replaced (after 5 or more years
of service) and it cost the company nothing but shipping for replacements. The
average price of this card per system can be as low as $89.

I have also worked with NetGear products and am happy with them. Their NICs are
about $29. I am not sure about their warrenty, we had not dealt with their
product long enough to have to test it. The three companies I would look at for
comparison pricing and potential purchases are CDW(1-800-886-4239),
MICROWarehouse (1-800-344-9309), Insight (www.insight.com).

Subject: Best NICS for linux

New to networking, there is so much out there it is hard to discern which
NIC's are the best.

Soooo what is the easiest one to setup in linux, hopefully it is the least
expensive as well ;).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

thanks,
