Oh dearie me,
My knickers are in a knot....
Both my work and home systems are perfectly happy working linux 2.0.31
systems.
I have compiled and rebooted to linux-2.0.35 on both my home and work
systems. Both systems dump core under 2.0.35 when I try to start up X.
Most other things are quite happy under 2.0.35, just not "clock -s"
and X.
The only thing I can think of that they have in common is that I upgraded
both systems to gcc-2.8.1 and compiled the 2.0.35 kernel with
gcc-2.8.1 and the 2.0.31 kernel with gcc-2.7.2
There was a huge ta hoo ha when gcc 2.8.0 came out about the kernel
not compiling. I'm vaguely under the impression that some when along
the line things all got fixed up. Am I wrong? Any ideas?
