I keep getting fatal errors during my first kernel compile after
installation. This always happens on this box, as I tried this a couple
years ago (Using Redhat 4.0) and gave up. Now, I'm not willing to give up. I
do notice that there is an error message upon boot-up re: "Unknown PCI
device" and an address to write to but I can't get it to stop scrolling long
enough to see exactly what this error is. The only PCI device in this box is
the Video card, a diamond Stealth Video Vram. Then the rest of the kernel
loads normally and all seems fine. I want to refine the kernel so that I can
add support for sound, Networking, etc. I'm using a box put together a few
years back with a P90 oc'd to 100Mhz, a SuperMicro P55CMS Mobo, a Sportster
33 External on com2, serial mouse on com1, AWE32 (non PnP), and I think that
covers it. I recall that I was able to compile on a different box, but of
course there were different components, and this box had a SCSI CD-ROM at
the time, it now has a Hitachi 16X Atapi. I realize there isn't enough
information here yet but I was hoping that someone might have had experience
with this Motherboard???? Thanks! (P.S. make config, make dep, and make
clean work - the error happens during make zImage)
