During these past few days I've been trying to get my linux box to
connect to my ISP. I read the ISP-Connectivity HOWTO and mini-HOWTO,
which proved very useful. I can now physically connect to my ISP.

What I do is:

pppd conncect 'chat -f /etc/ppp/chatscript'

The modem dials and connects. I'm sure it must initialize the PPP
protocol since I don't get disconnected after a minute or so (which is
what my ISP does if PPP is not initialized properly).

When I try to access any form of internet resource (such as www, ftp,
ping, etc) it gives me a "Network unreachable" message immediately...
how come?

And finally, when it's time to call it a session and disconnect, I have
no idea how to... so it's over to the phone, pick up and wait for
carrier loss.

Any ideas?
