I have heard many discussions about using a modem to
connect to a network, and obviously, there are times
when the machine is connected and disonnected.
Is there anyway to do this with an ethernet connection?
That is, is there a clean way to just connect to a
network, and shut off the connection?
the reason I am asking is that I will, god-willing,
get a cable-modem next month, and the interface is
ethernet. You don't have to dial-up, but it would be
nice to know if I could have something like ppp-up
and ppp-down.
