Hi...

Creating a user "ppp" and changing it's shell in /etc/passwd from /bin/bash
to /usr/sbin/pppd, then adding /usr/sbin/pppd in /etc/shells..
that 's using pppd as a user's shell. Get it.
But I'd like you to patiently go through following simple questions ..but
which I didn't clearly understood:

1. My redhat 5.0/kernel2.0.32 has mgetty installed on and I m running it as
a PPP server.
On my own box, I guess that it's pointless to try log in with user ppp,
cause it's like the system calling itself in a way ..right??
Cause I was testing user ppp and got, of course logged in with ..pppd
garbage..and that got me back again at login prompt ..

2.Now, say I want a user from outside to call to my linux box (ppp server).
That user can use user ppp..right??
and when he gets that pppd garbage, he will just have to hit <ENTER> or the
<CONTINUE> option if he uses the Dial up networking icon of win95
right??

3. But his shell should absolutely be pppd ..right??

4.A user that has /bin/bash has it's shell (in /etc/passwd)..he will be
able to dial to my machine but will just access my hard drive's
space reserved to him..right?? This what is called a shell account..right??

Thanks
