This is pretty normal, as long as one's 127.0.0.1. If you had an
Ethernet card and could bind an IP address to it, I don't think
you'd have to map the name to 127.0.0.1. Since you don't have a
card, Linux will probably be totally unwilling to even attempt to
use an IP addresses other than 127.0.0.1.

Which is exactly why this is about your only option, and in fact, there's
really not a lot of point in mapping the second IP addy to goddard. I
should retract that. Don't take my word as the final law, though. I'm
not an expert on this and I certainly don't know everything. What I do 
know is that this *should* work, although it may not be the only way
to do it. Try it and see what happens.
