Mwave modems == Winmodems, so this is not possible (yet); I have a Mwave
modem but I had to
buy a 'real' one to get it to run in anything else than dos/win. The only
Mwave thing you can get to work with
Linux is the sound card (you boot in DOS, load the DSP code and load linux
from loadlin).

I'd suggest that you buy a real modem (I say real modem because mwave modem
and most winmodems
use software code; and real modems have their own processor chip).

About your documentation, it's possible of course but someone would have to
reverse engineer the
DSP microcode/hardware or IBM would have to publish their mwave dsp docs.
