'Clock skew' error -- ??

I'm starting to get rather ominous messages during compiles, including:

'Clock skew detected. Build may be incomplete'
'Modification time in the future'

How can I correct this? (Please email me directly, I am not a subscriber).
I'm running Slackware 3.4 with a 2.0.34 kernel and gcc-2.8.1 (just 
installed it).
