X and Slackware

All I can get out of X is a 1024xwhateveritis  I want 800x600.  I can
hardly see the text.  I have netscape set to use a 18 point font, just
so I can easily read it, but it's still hard.  I used XF86Setup to get
where I am.  Can anyone help me out on getting to 800x600?
