Oh dear,

I'm missing something.

I'm trying to attach a parallel port HP CD-Writer Plus 7200e to a
linux machine and suffering the sorrows of the damned.

I can get it as far as being able to mount and read a cd via /dev/pcd,
but
  cdrecord -scanbus
says "no target found"

Reading the CD-Writer HOWTO seems to say that the scsi generic driver
must get into the act. I've compile and built and insmod everything in
sight. The sg and the pg module go in no problem.

What I don't understand is what is the magical mystical mystery
connection that tells the sg driver to speak via the parallel port?

The CD-Writer-HOWTO says the sg devices should appear in
/proc/devices, but I see it not.

I was trying this with linux-2.1.125 and the Debian 2.0 distribution
(gcc 2.7.2.1) cdrecord v 1.6

Thank you,

In a cluster of galaxies, one of many such clusters, there is a
galaxy. On the edge of this galaxy, is a star, one of millions of such
stars. Orbiting this star, is tiny ball of iron. On this tiny ball is
a very thin scum of lighter elements.

Some of which have delusions of grandeur.
