Mode ASCII will corrupt binary files in an FTP transfer.

The latest "development kernel" is 2.1.126 but dont forget its still an
experimental kernel alltho' its way past the dubious stage.

The stable kernel relase is 2.0.35 with 2.0.36 just waiting to happen.

pkgtool
software package maintenance tool.
pkgtool is the standard package maintenance tool provided with
the Slackware Linux distribution. It is called by the utility to
perform system installation. It can also be called without any
arguments, and will then allow the user to install, remove, (or
view, in the case of the color version) software packages through
an interactive menu system.

So just type 'pkgtool'
