Yes, you can run it on another distribution.

However, it must be compiled for your achitecture.

In other words:  if the filename for the RPM says "i386"
somewhere in it, don't expect it to run a on an Alpha.

Also, make sure that you have whatever libraries may be 
required by that package, (obviously).
