Hi,

Currently I am using a graphical interface called Xisp to dial-up my ISP. I
realise connecting while in X is a security risk, so I am writing my own script
to connect outside of X. I have run into a problem:

I want to be able to connect to my ISP while as a non-root user. However,
right now running pppd as an ordinary user gives me an error saying that it is
not setuid to root and must therefore be run only by root. My /etc/ppp/options
file has no lock option. How do I setuid to root? This is crucial, as in my
office, the secretary handles connecting and accessing our ISP's POP server. To
do this right now she needs the root password, but I would prefer her not
having it.

I know this can be done as Xisp allows it.

Thanks in advance,
Ishaaq Chandy
